TAYO Awards launched

          SM City Rosales, Pangasinan –  June 15, 2010, 2 o'clock in the afternoon, the search for Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) on its eight year was launched at The Event Center.

            Commissioner Joyce Anne Samaniego of the National Youth Commission officially opened the nominations for the search. In attendance were Engr. Jersey Mendoza and Ms. Catherine Garcia both Assistant Mall Managers of SM City Rosales, with representatives from various organizations and offices of DSWD and DILG.

             SM Supermalls with its SM Cares committee, being partners of the said nationwide search, has hosted the said launching activities in various cities and provinces of the country's foremost award for youth organizations where SM is located.

            The TAYO search was initiated by Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, who noted that, while there are numerous awards given for individual accomplishment, there were very few that acknowledged the contribution and the efforts of groups and organizations. He believes recognition for collective promotes unity and teamwork – necessary components in the important task of nation building. He also stressed that today's Filipino youth are examples of nation-builders, and it is only fitting that their perseverance, vision, and dynamism are given due recognition.

            Together with the National Youth Commission, TAYO began in 2003 with the idea of recognizing the achievements of youth groups and the outstanding innovations brought about by their collective action in their schools and communities.

            The award is given to ten outstanding Filipino youth clubs that have undertaken a recent project or program that has benefited a local community to which they belong. The search is open to youth organizations whose majority of members is aged 15 to 30 years. TAYO involves in-school, out-of-school, working youth, and young professionals. It is open to any barkada that believes it can make a difference in the lives of others!

            TAYO awardees are selected through projects implemented by the youth groups in the areas of education, livelihood and entrepreneurship, community service, technology, health, media, arts and culture, and the environment.

            And as part of its share, SM Supermalls having its local branch here in Pangasinan, SM City Rosales is now accepting applications and nominations for the said search. Groups who may be interested may ask and submit their forms  at the SCMC Administration Office from 10 am to 9 pm, Mondays thru Sundays. Making it easier and more convenient to interested participants from the province and nearby communities. Deadline of submission of entries is on July 30, 2010.
